Basic
Keelboat Certification
Description
Able to skipper a sloop-rigged keelboat of approximately 20-27 feet in length by day in light to moderate winds (up to 15 knots) and sea conditions. Knowledge of basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, seamanship, and safety, including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards. Auxiliary power operation is not required.
Learning Format
12 hours taught over two weekend days weekend — six hours each day (8:30 – 14:30)
12 hours taught over four consecutive weeknights — three hours each evening (18:00 – 21:00)

$555.00 per person.
Prerequisites:
While there are no prerequisites for this class, new sailors will benefit from first introducing themselves to the fundamentals of sailing in Beginners Fore Sail or viewing our YouTube channel.
Location
Wilmette Harbor.
