Celestial Navigation

Description

Able to apply celestial navigation theory and practices for safe navigation of a sailing vessel in offshore waters. On-water celestial navigation skills elements are demonstrated in ASA 108 — Offshore Passagemaking.

Learning Format

16 hours over two weekend days (8:30-16:30 each day).

Learning Investment

$555.00 per person.

Prerequisite:

  • Although no prior experience is necessary for this course, having a fundamental knowledge of USCG Aids to Navigation (ATON), along with some basic sailing experience is helpful.

  • This course can be taken out of the numerical sequence of ASA courses and is helpful prior to or after taking the ASA103.
